Monday nights should be entertaining again thanks to the long awaited sequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
Tragically the star of the first show Andy Whitfield passed away in September of last year of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the age of just 40. He was a family man and on the brink of bigger and better things, he was certainly one of the main reasons why the television series ‘Blood and Sand’ was such an international hit. After a well received prequel series ‘Spartacus: Gods of The Arena’ which focussed on life in House Batiatus pre-Spartacus, we are back on the heels of the bloody escape and gladiator rebellion being led by Spartacus. Stepping in to the big shoes (or should that be sandals) of Andy Whitfield is Australian born actor Liam McIntyre who apparently had the personal approval and blessing of his predecessor. This sees Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage. Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death, or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart. With favourites Crixus (Manu Bennett), Lucretia (the always watchable baddie Lucy Lawless) and Doctore (Peter Mensah) all back on board this promises to be another thrilling action series on an epic scale. 'Spartacus: Vengeance' can be seen on Mondays on Sky One at 10pm for a ten week run. Enjoy! |

| Silk |
It is great to see superior court drama “Silk” returning for a second series this coming week. It stars Maxine Peake as Martha Costello and features strong supporting roles and story-lines.
